Home Alone

03/09/2026—03/10/2026

The exhibition

Home Alone

, presents a series of works in collaboration by Ida Ribu and Øyvind Bast and is a continuation of the duo’s first exhibition,

doily quotes

, in which ornament, stucco, and textiles were explored through material translations into bronze. Ornamental forms were juxtaposed with everyday objects and mass-produced elements, such as machine tools, Kinder Surprise figures, and My Little Pony figurines, creating collages that challenged traditional hierarchies between decoration, art, and popular culture.

In

Home Alone

, this exploration shifts further towards sculpture and furniture. A table, originally shaped in wax and lace, has been cast directly in aluminium – a material that contrasts the exclusivity of craftsmanship with associations of mass production. Together with earlier bronze works, the exhibition examines how existing forms, objects, and traditions can be appropriated, transformed, and invested with new meanings.

The exhibition is supported by the Art Council Norway.
