Aurora Passero's works in woven and dyed nylon draw inspiration from various cultural expressions, including traditional crafts, underground culture, fashion, and art history. Passero demonstrates a keen sensitivity to details in her surroundings—whether in her daily movements from home to her studio in Storgata, during travels, or in nature. She collects fragments along the way: an orange wall, an embroidery, a chain, an old wool jacket, an IKEA bag, a worn-out container, an open plateau, a sunset. Processed and reinterpreted, these references from nature and culture are woven together.
In this exhibition, Passero presents new woven textile works that take shape in space. From a series of delicate weavings in nylon, wool, and cotton to heavy woven rope sculptures, where texture creates distinct contours. The sculptures appear as physical entities, resembling both bodies and garments. Passero’s
toilesare raw and seductive, organic yet synthetic.
The exhibition title,
Drum Talk, sets the tone. Using a more physical technique than in the flat weaving she usually works with, these pieces have gradually emerged, suspended in space. Over a given period, the rhythm of the hands dictates the final composition—for now—until the process continues, on and on.
